If you look at it from the political side that this is the basic idea of liberal democracy.
Everyone votes in their best interest and especially in proportional representation you get some compromise of the interests.
Right now at least in politics people act less in their own interest but more of what they emotionally feel like their interest.
After my bikepacking trip I will pitch the interrail to my parents. They are so excited about the places I visited but don’t know how or if they will be able to get there. They (me too) don’t like flying and by car it is just too stressful.
Bit more chill than in France, different style of signage (node network) and today ride in Brussels was lot easier than in Paris.
What is worse is that there is forbidden wild camping and they don’t have many campsites, first day I stayed on someone’s garden and then I had bit of long and short days of riding to get somewhere to camp.
I am bikepacking through Europe, I was in Spain, Portugal and now I am heading towards Belgium.
I didn’t used any bike share and no trains here either but it is used here all the time.
To be honest the cycling here is a bit of organised mess. You have to get the vibe of it as it was explained to me. Real problem starts when you want to get outside of Paris because it is so f*ing big, it is half day of riding through suburbs before you get out.
No, most people are pragmatic in this case and eastern countries changed from Russian ~30 years ago so another change isn’t coming any time soon.
As my parents saw the change from “it is really appreciated that you can speak English” to “it is expected that you can use it”. I can tell that it is so engrained in our multinational exchange that it won’t be even desirable.
You know in regards to foreign policy of US it is happening for long time, at least since 90’s. What Trump does right now just makes this stuff really obvious for ordinary people.

From my point of view as a foreigner the US political system is broken and nobody tried to correct it so this was only matter of time. And yes when something like this happens most people just want to get by.
The exploding kittens have in the rules that you should first play it without the combo kittens and after few games introduce these rules.
So I guess that they just didn’t bothered looking again at the rules after the first few rounds.

I saw a video where guy compared prusa and bambu. All of his Prusas were functional but slower because they are older models. From 3 Bambu printers only one printed because he can’t get replacement parts.

I live in good city for this as in the way that I have lots of options and car is usually on the last place. But for me it is more of a decision between public transport and bike/walk.
I just started touring by bike so I live/travel only by bike so it doesn’t make a difference now.

Our community !homebrewing@sopuli.xyz has for now everything beer, wine, cider… it didn’t reach the point of creating another specific, niche community. So I totally get the niche interests aren’t represented here yet and the number of homebrewers is big.
Still we get good engagement for lemmy and there are active people from industry, so I wouldn’t call it exactly small.

As for creating poison, it is hard to make something poisonous and at the same time good tasting. Stilling moonshine is on another level (and you have to be pretty reckless to poison yourself with methanol).
Loads of equipment is only “quality of life” improvement. So if you don’t mind to repurpose something you already have, spending more time on it and it may be little harder, you can do it without selling your kidney.
You can look at the sidebar of our community, there are starter guides to give you some ideas. I think that least gear intensive is mead or cider/wine from store bought juice.

To be honest the comparison with Trump is bit harsh.
Because of how fucked up are American politics all the populists and right wing parties are compared to him.
In fact he has closer ties to democrats in USA than to republicans. But that doesn’t mean that he isn’t populist, political chameleon and sometimes in his retorics gets bit to the extreme to catch most possible votes.
