Yup, they are pretty stupid to think that they are that “special”. But at least they are waking up to the fact now.

Gaming@beehaw.org•Roblox is a problem — but it’s a symptom of something worse
11·5 months agoI would like to point out that Adam Smith “did not” suggest wealth = virtue. Wealth of Nations even have a whole book devoted to morality.
The current trend of equaling wealth to virtue came from Puritanism, Calvinism, which evolved into neo-liberalism now.
For more information about Puritanism and Calvinism and their relationship with capitalism, please refer to The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism by Max Weber.

7·6 months agoDo people really trust Ubisoft to fairly portrait American Civil War? I think cancelling is the right choice.

Gaming@beehaw.org•Star Citizen fans sigh deeply, rub their foreheads as developer casts doubt on Squadron 42's 2026 release: 'I don't know if we're going to make it'
5·7 months ago“The team is heads down,” Huckaby said. “We drew a line in the sand when we said 2026. I don’t know if we’re going to make it, I just know that we’re going to do every single thing possible to make it. And part of that is not taking time for the distraction of CitizenCon.”
That means they already know they are not going to make it. Otherwise why say this more than one year before?

7·8 months agoDuring a Q&A session following Sony’s latest financial results, Tao said that despite the negativity surrounding Sony’s live service offerings thanks to the issues with Concord and Marathon, she still believes live service games are worthwhile because they’ve added a revenue stream that didn’t exist for the company five years ago.
so they learnt nothing…

Gaming@beehaw.org•We can't keep making videogame stories for players who aren't paying attention to them
3·8 months agoTalking about lost feature, I feel like like less modern games like to give their players a comprehensive map.
It used to be that map is a basic feature in games that involve any kind of navigation but nowadays some games just…don’t?

1·8 months agoAlready seeing backlash from the gatekeeping league community. LoL is losing out to newer games partly because of the unintuitive control scheme.
When even Street Fighter is innovating despite the FGC’s reluctance, League needs to evolve or will be slowly left behind.

Gaming@beehaw.org•The PS4 version of Genshin Impact is being delisted and shut down | VGC
6·9 months agoUnfortunate, but considering that the PS4 is more than a decade old, I suppose supporting that platform must be a pain for the developers.
Also my guess is that new competitor from Kuro games is beating Genshin on the graphic front and Mihoyo wants to up their game.

Gaming@beehaw.org•What are signs that the game devs aren't gamers themselves?
3·10 months agoProbably priority? They have a tight deadline and skipping cut scenes is not a priority feature.
I have also seen game where dev deliberately ignore call for adding a skip scene button because they want their players to read the story. You can disagree with it but maybe the dev really think their cut scene is worth watching. That doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t play games, its just that they have high pride in their work.
I know the above is a controversial take. But I have no problem watching cut scenes if that is the dev’s intention.

Gaming@beehaw.org•The Elder Scrolls Online Dev's Unannounced MMO Was Doing Well and Even Scaling Up as Xbox Cancelation Blindsided Staff
15·10 months agoFor more context, Bloomberg also reported on this:
Xbox Executives Were Blown Away by an Upcoming Game. Then They Canceled It.
No paywall version: https://archive.ph/daYYd
But Blackbird’s cancellation was particularly shocking because it had blown away executives at Xbox just a few months ago. During the demonstration in March, Spencer was enjoying the game so much that Matt Booty, the head of Xbox Game Studios, had to pull the controller away so they could keep the meeting going, according to two people who were in the room.
This is a game that even Spencer was enjoying and then they just cancelled it. I have no word.

A lot of us already knew or even told these people that they will be thrown away the second they are no longer useful to the right’s agenda.
Unfortunately a lot of them still fall for it.
What these women truly hate is not feminism, but the pressure brought by capitalism.
