I have heard you can get (some? Most? Not sure) VST Plugins that only exist for windows running on Linux with wine and Carla. Haven’t tried it myself, though
Meanwhile at Microsoft… the Start Menu button is a js react app now
That’s the thing, I wish we could just switch all enterprises to Linux, but Microsoft developed a huge ecosystem that really does have good features. Unless something comparable comes up in the Linux world, I don’t see Europe becoming independent of Microsoft any time soon
But can you also get all the enterprise features they have with Linux? Like, backups, mobile device management, identity and access management, MFA? All integrated tightly and easily deployable from a portal?
Try the Windows community, they just don’t know their future yet
Another commenter here mentioned Russinovich’s books, which I just started reading, and those webcasts are really fun, thanks a lot! I think he is the guy to follow to properly understand this stuff. Let’s see how far I can get :)
Thank you, I just started working through the first part of Windows Internals! It’s fantastic! I think this is exactly what I was looking for.
We were just focused on the “that does not justify killing unarmed people”, which another commenter above just did 😬
Hahaha I lol’ed… and I’m afraid 😳
It’s been my experience that a crazy amount of people on Lemmy actually think terror attacks are a good thing if they hit the people of a country they don’t like 😬 it’s honestly pretty much the only thing that’s making me reconsider lemmy as an alternative to reddit
Both the Israeli government and Hamas need to be disbanded, and better people must follow
If you want to ask every person in an anonymized database for consent, yes
This is not about consent but about databases that already exist and that could be anonymized easily, treasure troves of data for medical research, but even anonymously that data can’t be used because of stupid red tape
Privacy matters, but it is really not good in its current shape. For example, it seriously hinders scientific research into contagious diseases because a lot of data of patients is incredibly hard to get or work on. There’s a lot more that could be done against epidemics if it wasn’t for the GDPR in its current shape.
Haha thank you! Pictures are posted in a comment further up. It actually looks better in real life, I will do another round of fine sanding and polishing on the varnish. I’m sooo relieved and happy about this, and surprised, most people told me I was completely screwed and I would have to redo the floor, now it looks good as new 😅
I fixed it really easily and well, without sanding, with the steaming method recommended here! Photos are in a comment further below:)
It worked! Thanks so much! I posted before and after photos in another comment further up
Maybe motivated by the legislation requiring that coming into effect in a week in Germany? Not dissing them, just wondering.
