  • If someone has enough talent to create this, they can do it with any equipment.

This here? Pen and paper. Sure, an extremely fine-tipped pen with extremely and reliably even ink flow, and good illustration paper that will absorb the ink evenly without blotting, yeah. But that’s not where the magic is.

The magic is being talented and having spent many years developing one’s skill.

Someone may have been born with all of the talent in the world, but it still takes years and years of practice to develop the skills in order to harness such a talent. Whether it’s sculpture or graphic design or illustration, as it is here, even if you had a ton of talent at birth, it would still take many years of practice to get this good. Although, it is worth mentioning, that people of even middling talent can, with enough practice, develop a skill level that elevates their art quite remarkably.

As an example, well, I have decades of experience with art and design, etc., my hands shake. I would never be able to maintain such fine control in order to create something like this on paper, but I’ve been able to create stuff like this digitally, because it allows me to edit mistakes.

One works with the tools that work for them.

  • I mean, yeah, Amazon’s relationship with Trump is far too cozy… however, in this case, I think it’s more likely that Amazon was just trying to cheap out by using AI (and possibly test/showcase their use of the tech) rather than them actively deciding to cut out LGBTQ+ voice actors.

    FTA:

As giant tech corporations try to jam AI into every possible orifice in the world, we are consistently getting new examples day in and day out of that going poorly. This week, that’s Amazon Prime Video introducing dubs to the beloved anime Banana Fish, which has needed them for a long while. The problem? They’re AI. Not just AI, horrible AI.

Had this decision been based in bigotry, I would imagine that they wouldn’t have bothered with the dub at all.

  • If it did, there’s absolutely no way that valve could produce that many. They don’t have a global manufacturing and distribution network. it took Microsoft and Sony literal decades to build that up. If valve sold that many consoles, there’s no way they could possibly produce them fast enough., nor get them to where they were going.

Also, they are selling exclusively through their own store rather than on Amazon or Best Buy, Target, Walmart, etc. this is an excellent way to keep the price lower, because they’re not paying affiliate fees.

But even if valve sold 8 million units as opposed to 80 million units, it would still be a runaway success
