Completely unrelated story: I bought a red cabbage last week and was so glad to have found a relatively small one in the shop.
…I have been eating red cabbage for the past three days and still have enough left for another two days. Just why is it so damn compressed? I can cut off the tiniest slice from that cabbage and it still fills a whole plate.
I love cabbage for this. It’ll last a long time too!
I put it in a freezer bag in the fridge after each use. It’ll brown a little on the edge, but it’s easy enough to shave off.
Then in the summer I’ll plant the bottom part in the garden. I’ve currently got a grocery store cabbage that has sprouted two new ones and another one I just finished to plant today. I also do this with celery

You could make sauerkraut with the rest?
Why eat beets if you don’t want all your bodily excrement to be purple?
Because they are yum?
The best unexpected“perk” of a job I’ve ever had was at a restaurant where we served a beet salad. Twice a week, the kitchen would cook and mandoline the beets, then let them dry off a little on baking sheets. The chef was incredibly annoyed that I would regularly steal something that literally left me red-handed, but they were too good to resist.
What if I want to give myself a good scare later?
Purple is the original colour of carrots. They got updated during the orange dlc
I blame the Dutch!
That’s accurate!
TIL!
Do onions count?
Absolutely
