You know, if what everything Midas touches turns to gold because he wants to have as much wealth as possible, then eventually the value of gold diminishes and become worthless because there is too much gold circulating. He would have just crashed the economy!
That depends on the size of the economy and whether he uses his power responsibly. If he just sells as much gold as he needs then that won’t cause much devaluation of it.

Minecraft actually implemented gold armor and weapons, which is not very common in videogames. They also made it break very easily.
