I’ve been clinically depressed for over two decades but am fairly high-functioning. So people assume my withdrawn nature and low social drive just mean I must be aloof or feel too good to be around them, which isn’t the case at all.
When I really am in crisis, people make it fairly obvious that that’s just… not acceptable and that my chances with them in such circumstances are limited at the very best.
