i dont blame anyone for feeling despair (i know i certainly do) at the immense and unimaginable suffering present in the world, but i think we should try our hardest to temper that despair with this kind of perspective.
Being a communist, imo, necessitates having unassailable hope and undying faith that a better future is possible. We can get cynical and doomerish over the current state of things at times, but we wouldn’t be that way if we didn’t feel love and hope deep within our cores
That’s how i feel sometimes when I learn that a total lib is now a raging leftists thanks to Trump. I think not talking to people and being isolated can make anyone feel hopeless, but everyone I talk to is really tired of this bullshit.

Followup tweet is “RIP Pat Ryle.”

He kinda looks like this older Trot that used to come into my last job a lot.
That guy was a weirdo though. I wore my politics on my sleeve a lot more back then and I guess he heard I was a Fellow Traveler or whatever so he invited me to a dinner party at his place and I figured I’d go as a bit. It was some real One Battle After Another shit, everyone there were burnt out counter culture survivors, his place was filled with old magazines, the food was like oven baked pizza. Also he showed off his art which was all made with dumpstered stuff and was all heavy handed political satire. Like he had a picture of Bill Clinton glued to a broken toilet seat.
This guy seems cool though.
Pour one out for a real one.

This old communist apparently kinda sucks at spelling.
We’re gonna win
