Im going back to old albums and this week, the mood is poignant Tracy Chapmans Fast Car.
I’ve been coming back to a eurobeat mixtape Hyundai put out a few years ago, playing over footage of a Nordschleife endurance race. Just playing the whole video, start-to-finish.
Jessa Stebbins’s music is great on its own, I’ve got a lot of her tracks on my own playlists already, but this arrangement combined with the sounds of revving engines and squealing brakes in between songs, adds another layer to everything.
A playlist I made and have been playing a least once a day this week, no real category or anything just went with what I felt like adding:
Tidal: https://tidal.com/playlist/957863ac-2f13-4035-aac1-97ec1c3073bb
Youtube (one song missing): https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZeNdb-IjuBCN8S4wz2WFHd9O7h_4yNQe
Anyone have any recommendations for sharing playlists easily? I use Tidal but know few others that do, and would rather not use youtube.
Edit: here’s a screenshot and text of the whole list if you want to use something else to make/listen to it: https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/48a1a0ad-e52d-4083-a2ad-46e97e8aa201.jpeg

Also been listening a lot to Franco Battiato: https://youtube.com/@francobattiatovevo
(Sort by popular if you haven’t heard it before, the top songs there are all amazing).Blue Oyster Cult Fire of Unknown Origin. We went to a record fair last week and I picked up a decent copy of it, I had it when I was a lad but lost it in multiple moves, so it’s lovely and nostalgic.

I’ve been listening to a lot of Journey lately. I mean I’ve always liked Journey but they’ve really just been hitting the spot lately.
slept on the floor still dreamt of you - meat computer is such a fun little album
Anamanaguchi - Anyway
Origami Angel - Feeling Not Found
CHVRCHES - Every Open Eye
Bilmuri - AMERICAN MOTOR SPORTS (420CC EDITION)
Origami Angel fucking slaps.

Fun Fact: Thích Quảng Đức, the monk in the picture was not protesting the Vietnam War, but rather the Catholic oppression of the Buddhist majority by the American puppet government.
… which feels like protesting the Vietnam War, if we’re being honest. Both are facets of American imperialism in the region.
Fast Car is a classic.
Open invitation to you and everyone else to post what you’re listening to on !eternalplaylist@crazypeople.online so even more people can enjoy. 💚
😚 Thanks always good to find a new community.
Fast Car is one of those songs that always makes me cry.
I’ve been listening to Bob Marley & the Wailers:
Get up, stand up: stand up for your right
Get up, stand up: don’t give up the fight
I’m listening to this 1995 masterpiece every day after my workout lately:

Not sure what album it’s on, but Cup Of Coffee is one of my all-time favourite Shirley Manson songs. If you haven’t listened to Angel fire, check em out
Also holy shit your name. I look like your name I swear

I created a playlist that just makes me happy, it’s a colourful mix of old rock (for example: Ram Jam - Black Betty), nerdy stuff (like Bo Burnham, Tom Cardy, Flight of the Conchords), lefty bobs (ex.: ZSK - Antifascista, Ska-P - Colores) and old cartoon themes (Arabian Nights, Ducktales, TNMT) with lots of quality german stuff (Seeed, Wir sind Helden, Knorkator), many epic rap battles of history and some really gangster british drill rap with a twist (like Pete & Bas).
It’s just… I don’t know, the songs are mostly upbeat, funny and energetic. I used to be mostly a metal guy, but with age came the conclusion that whatever makes me happy and gives me some energy to get through the slog of the day is just… good.
