I’m bald, like George Costanza in season 9 bald. The cheap wigs I’ve tried look like, well, cheap fake hair. They were also incredibly hot and itchy. At this point I think going around completely shaved or with a bandana as a head wrap looks best, but I still really wish I could present with hair.

I’d like to try a good wig but they’re so pricey, and I’m worried that even if it looked good that it would be intolerably uncomfortable to wear all day.

Would anyone recommend trying out quality wigs, or is it just not worth the cost and discomfort?

When you bought your nice wig did you spend time getting it fitted? Was there a fitting room and someone to help you pick one out? I feel like having a more personal touch here like you get at high end clothes shops might be useful for me.

There are places like that! One of the ones near me has salon vibes; you make an appointment, and they’ll help you pick out a color, and trim the lace for you, and style it, everything.

That’s what I want! I think i found a place near me, and I saw a Google review from a trans woman who said they were kind and affirmative. I’m still working up the courage.
