This release adds a new option when a community link is long clicked: Local community stats. It shows you useful information about a community. Personally I’m using this new feature to help me decide whether to block a community is worth blocking or not.

This release also fixes a lot of bugs. If I wasn’t able to get to your bug fix in this release it will be fixed in a patch update.

I am doing a minor release with many QoL changes and bug fixes. They will be released as v1.84.2 (there were some regressions in v1.84.1, so skipping 1.84.1).

  • Add a setting to control whether the failed actions badge is shown or not.
  • Add more ways to delete drafts.
  • Add “scroll to top” as a quick action option on the post feed screen.
  • Improve comments loading performance.
  • Better support display names on the current account.
  • Fix some deadlocks on the post screen.
  • Fix an issue where switching accounts on the person screen can cause the wrong person’s data to be shown.
  • Fix a bug where registration applications don’t load on Lemmy.
  • Fix an issue where some conversation messages do not load.
  • Fix an issue where downloading larger video files can error.

Update 2

More bug fixes. Released as v1.84.3:

  • Improve search screen. Typing in the search bar on the search screen will now show community suggestions.
  • Fix incorrectly linking mentions within another link. Sometimes a link will contain something that looks like a mention as a substring. This change should fix incorrectly adding a link to that substring.
  • Fix missing comments in saved/upvoted/downvoted screens.
  • Support piefed /c/ post links.

    A small bug report for a minor thing I’ve noticed for a while now:

    The bottom navigation bar does not correctly maintain its state during certain screen transitions

    Reproduction steps:

    1. Open a post detail screen with an associated image
    2. Tap the image to open the image viewer screen
    3. Press the back button

    Expected result: The bottom navigation bar is in the same state as when entering the post detail screen, i.e hidden

    Actual result: The bottom navigation bar is fully visible. When beginning to dismiss the post detail screen by swiping, the bottom navigation bar instantly snaps to its actual intended position, i.e fully hidden, and begins to animate back into a visible state in tandem with the dismissal swipe

    Thanks for making such a great Lemmy app! It was such a relief to have an app similar to Sync when it got abandoned. I tried a bunch of other apps, but this is by far the best and I’ve been on it for over a year now.

    Thanks for all the hard work you put into this, and for sharing it with everyone.
