I feel bad especially for the ones who are 2nd or 3rd gen fully jumped in made (wo)men, never knowing anything else but suckling to the military teet. they are turned into these hideous monsters without dignity. Of course I feel worse for their victims. What can productively be done?

Is there a TRC process ready to go? Or what? If that state just collapsed inshallah is there a concept of how to proceed?

what of the many, many crimes? what if everyone who’d ever served in the IDF was evaluated according to their military file and public statements they’ve made, then prosecuted according to the laws? How many courts would be required? And each person who resides in a stolen home. All incitements to genocide.

    I don’t mean to derail things (but then again, just scroll onward and read a different comment, if you want), but I’ve really had my mind captured by imagining what the reconciliation between settlers like me and the local Salish/Chinook/Kalapuya/Yakima etc people would look like. In this case, im the Israeli. I have been doing a lot of reading about our local homegrown genocide, and we have a lot of similar work to do.

    idk if you didn’t personally murder children or steal a house from someone, it’s pretty hard to “[be] the israeli”. coexistence is probably way more possible here. if federal power weakens significantly i can see states or regions following new zealand’s example which while far from adequate would be a huge improvement.

      I’m exaggerating slightly, most of my family tree immigrated after the genocide was complete, but my privilieges still stand on the shoulders of that process. Zionists would love for the Palestinians to be in the same position as the American Indian tribes. My home and my city are built on stolen land, and a stolen future, and no matter how much I lib around in c/electoralism, I won’t rest until the equality of my indigenous comrades is restored.

      It isnt my personal cross to bear responsibility for all of the crimes of the land, but the way I see it, I am just a 5th/6th generation settler, while the Israeli project is a lot of 1st/2nd/3rd generations.

      I think reconciliations is possible, and the book i mentioned does get into some contrasts between what has been tried in North America, and what has been going on in NZ/Aus. I dont think that can start until people can articulate the history as it was experienced by our predecessors. Just saying “the American settlers did a genocide and it was bad” is not enough, in my opinion, so there is a ton of (educational) work to do.
