This is the worst, I feel so uncomfortable. How am I supposed to react to somebody shit-talking their own place? Especially if it’s nicer than my living arrangement.
You could say, “Hey! Quit shit talking my friends place. I think it’s nice.”
It’s really anxiety, nerves, awkwardness, etc. They just might need a jolt to get out of their head for a moment. I have had friends that talk shit about themselves and I had to use the ‘stop trashing my friend line.’
It’s just anxiety, throw them a quick compliment about something and unless they really have a complex, that usually closes the loop and you can move on.
Instead I just brag about it then feel guilty later in a moment of clarity when I realize they usually didn’t have the same luck and opportunities I did
