Looking for an alternative to reddit
I also had bugs around window rules to be honest.
But we need a place to discuss and vent.
It’s nice that you are trying to do the right thing, but you guys really got that Reddit vibe here, where moderators “allow” things instead of “serving” the communities.
But maybe others will like this post more. I like the initiative and trying to talk to users in a mature way.
People did this to themselves.
Unless we see some kind of regulation, today’s big tech is tomorrow’s big brother.
Good for you and have fun.
Yes, it has bugs still, specially for widgets and stuff like that. But it’s very stable if you don’t mess around with those things and just use it.
Yes, it never crashes anymore at all for me. Lots of work went into stability and bug fixes in plasma version 6.
So please don’t try it on Debian stable or something. Use the latest version!
It’s really stunning these days, super professional and clean, and really good themes actually too.
I really like being able to disable the mute-sound button on the task icons, since I sometimes misclick on them during meetings… And once I had apparently done that and turned off the sound for slack, so my huddle didn’t have any sound. Took me like 15 mins to find the reason since I thought it had to do with pulseaudio…
Very nice. I started using zellij a lot and glad it’s getting more and more cool features.
Every time I hear about eve, I remember how much I wished it was a slightly different game. There is no way to play eve without investing many hours each time. Everything takes a very long time.
On the plus side, just the feeling that someone may come up and kill you and take your stuff makes the game feel quite scary. I was doing wormholes for a while and pretty much was constantly nervous about getting killed. Never happened though.
Who are you talking about that is insisting there can be no deviation from the norm? And maybe you don’t realize how teaching works… You need someone willing to learn to be able to be able to have a teacher. Banning words and discussions is absolutely the wrong way to go. History has shown this many times.
And my point is very simple. Don’t ban words. Have open discussions. Don’t support censorship of opinions or words. Don’t be afraid of what people are actually thinking of things. Stop trying to control what people should think, and stop trying to teach them what you think is right.
People will not read something online and change their minds. Just like you are currently reading my words here, and you will not agree or change your mind. Neither will I. That’s how it works.
I can’t be your teacher unless you want to be my student.
Well, you were talking about the positive aspects of autistic people only. Maybe it’s hard to notice that, but it sounds almost like you think they are a better version of non-autistic people. From my perspective, that’s not really how it is… :) Autism or not, people can have a lot of negative personality traits that make them a pain to be around.
Those websites will simply register alternate domains… It’s really not a big deal.
Thank you, but is it really fair to say they all autistic people are like you describe? Just like non-autistic people, there should be a a variety of behaviors in autistic people as well?
I was talking about Elon Musk here, not all autistic people.
I don’t see it. Elon is a sociopath and doesn’t care about people at all. He is autistic as well. The man would easily sacrifice others in a crisis, not fight for them.
Cartman is that you?
Ok this is officially the strangest thread I’ve been in since Lemmy started. :)
You are acting a bit strange, honestly…
It could be a good idea to meet some actual people outside of this computer thing, just saying…
No I’m generally happy :)
It feels like underneath all this, it’s actually about people refusing to be marginalized and they want to be accepted as everyone else. But I think instead of trying to change words and ban conversations, maybe it’s better to teach people to accept and even enjoy more variations?
Because right now it’s a bit ridiculous. We are told to ignore obvious differences between people so nobody feels marginalized. That’s likely to make it very difficult to even have a conversation.
It’s like when you can’t describe someone as black or white, or fat or thin, and it just becomes really humorous in the end, as you are struggling to find other words that are identifying the person.
I tried to find where it was but can’t find it…
