Is Sable worth getting into? My friends and I have been using Element for a hot second now and it works good enough for us. Like if it does everything we need, so how is Sable better?

I swear to god, as much as I used to be pro ai from like 2019 to 2023, AI has made my coworkers so fucking stupid. So many of them are like useless without AI now and I keep getting sideways looks when I say I don’t use AI for my job.
I get it to some extent as I work IT, but come on! You can’t even make a fucking email without CoPilot telling you what to say!? Use AI as in Actual Intelligence! It’s found in that place between your ears, god damn it.
I finally got the wildfire in my sock drawer under control.

So many.

Element.
I mean like it’s kinda like fuck man like you know like it’s kinda sorta like fuck man like fuck you know man like sorta kinda like fuck man like fuck man you know like it’s kinda like-

Sorry dude, I was really drunk.
I don’t trust the AI slop. Some psycho youtuber out there will find a way to do it.

Moved onto Matrix a while ago because of this. Gonna be real, Discord is better but all Matrix asked me for was hardware verification. I fucking hate this ID verification thing. Like we are going to see a sharp spark in identity theft going forward.
…and shit, I might be part of it. I had to verify with an ID to get my CompTIA tests, which I passed. I am still arguing with Pearson to delete my personal data, but I might be in the shitter with all the others getting their identity stolen.

Yeah, I feel that. Again, I used to be pro AI and my homie did too. We used to get into chats and share AI slop with one another but soon I felt so empty.
Generating AI images feels like gambling in a way. Like it can be funny when it fails, really funny. But passed a point I just felt so fucking empty inside. Was talking to my buddy about it and he agreed, so we both got into drawing for ourselves and felt a lot better lol.
Like okay, we never should have from the start, but both of us now do art on out own. He draws in a notebook and I do pixel art, but I did learn through a very miserable, sloppy journey that the process is just as crucial as the outcome. As a guy who works IT, I feel like I should have know this from the start but oh well.
Did I make a point? I’m gonna be honest, I kinda feel like a just rambled. Like I agree because I was a victim of the slop, I guess.

We should have stopped at Akinator. Every AI passed him isn’t needed.

Honestly, using local LLMs on my own computer made the point of how harmful they are hit way more. I got Google’s Gemma and ran it on my own hardware and this thing made my poor laptop cry.
Thing is, my specs are really good. Again, my laptop is a beast and it ran like 100% CPU, 100% GPU, and 100% of my 64gb of DDR5 Ram! Seeing it and how hot it made my computer did make me think like… it’s one thing to say these are bad for the environment and another to see how demanding this technology is.
And as for it making people stupid? Yeah, it does. A lot of my coworkers who got into using AI can’t even write up an email without using AI. I even caught my boss asking Gemini for assistance in budgeting and like bro, you have been doing this for years! You cant budget without AI? What are you, a smooth sloperator?

Wait, type shit? I legit didn’t know.

Ublock Origin Lite still works on Ungoogled Chromium for me, at least.

Nah man, we gotta get the cameras RIGHT in his house. What if someone gets in we couldn’t see from the outside?

Oh no! This guy is in danger! We should set up a ton of security cameras around his house so we can all keep an eye on him and make sure he’s safe!

Probably a good thing, honestly. We all need to be more offline anyways.

It’s why I moved onto Lemmy. I can’t stand new Reddit.

Ads in your fucking web browser. I tried searching up something and got a “Sponsored” recommendation. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!
I noticed after 2016, things just got really really bad for Reddit. I got banned in like 2021 and wasn’t told why, so I filed an appeal and was told my account was brought back. I wasn’t given a reason for the band, however. I got banned from a ton of different subreddits, many of which I never even visited and, once again, no reason. It was like 2024 I dumped Reddit for good.
I believe this is the cost of AI moderating websites. I have had friends who had similar experiences with other websites like Discord, Instagram, and Twitter. They got banned, weren’t told why, filed an appeal, and got back in. Remember Kafka’s trial? AI made this real for the website. Your crime is you triggered some kind of automated response and you’re not getting an explination.
Now stop whining and give us your ID so Peter Thiel can find the antichrist or something!
