  • The effect of that is AFAIK relatively minor.

My semi well researched impression is that the main federated server load comes from votes done on other servers by external users (that vastly outnumber local ones). Basically the way ActivityPub works is that every vote is as computionally expensive as a full comment. But Lemmy also somewhat abuses a system that was originally only meant for a “like” on a micro-blog post for its vote feature.

This has been discussed for years, and Piefed introduced a way to batch multiple votes together so that it is only one database operation at the expense that individual votes don’t get updated in real-time. This however only works between Piefed instances as Lemmy continues to be incompatible with this IMHO good idea to lower the server load federation causes.

I am was talking about toeing the Kremlin propaganda line after the Russian attack in Ukraine 🤷

But you clearly live in an alternative reality of propaganda that even after a short initial phase of cognitive dissonance upon the shock that you were completely wrong on the Russian attack, you just doubled down on licking the boot of imperialist Russia even harder.

No, I had one and deleted it after you and the owners of lemmy.ml made it very clear that they were toeing the Kremlin propaganda line and directly contradicted what they said merely weeks before.

And what you say is blatantly false. There was some speculation about how the war in Ukraine might end despite Russia clearly having the upper hand militarily in the long run. This speculation was entirely justified at the time. You are clearly unable to differentiate between speculation on possible scenarios and predictions about likely outcomes, and also the quote in German supports exactly that. But we have already established multiple times that your reading comprehension is very limited and you continue to misinterpret and distort what others have said if it fits your agenda.
