    Why? Combustion engines are a dead end. European car companies ignored this and kept focusing on ICEs. Now they’re falling behind on EVs, and the solution is… to focus more on ICEs?

    At best this will buy the car industry a couple additional years, but doing so will make the crash afterwards even worse.

      Banning ICE is the wrong approach. There’s a multi billion dollar industry behind ICE enthusiasts. Think Ferraris, Bugattis, or other performance petrol head brands. Those brands will lose 90% of their sales, hitting the economies of Germany and Italy especially hard. And what is the point when there are green fuels out there? Besides, you can subsidize electric vehicles with ICE sales too. No, banning ICE is straight up stupid.
