i, for one, am glad that the EU remains the adult in the room and isn’t stooping to the US level.

HOWEVER, it remains imperative that this is followed by continued efforts to rapidly secure our independence from the US in all fields: tech, energy, weapons, etc.

Weak as shit statement not worth the memory its stored on.

First they came for the Venezuelans and we didnt speak out because we were not Venezuelans.

In fact we legitimized it with the same weak language:

“complex situation” as if there was not a 1:1 precedent in history.

“Maduro stole the election” [citation needed] using the same language Trump uses. Both from Merz.

We bent over and even cheered on for the same actions that we now fear are coming for us and only now that its impacting us we slop out the weakest possible statement showing discourage. Pathetic.

Wonder if they’re going to keep calling the U.S. an ally when they start occupying our countries. Our leaders are so pathetic.

In this case it reads to me more as reminding them that they are part of diplomatic treaties, and that they matter

And Miller just went on air saying that the only thing that matters is power and might

    Such a Bootlicker Statement:

The United States is an essential partner in this endeavour, as a NATO ally and through the defence agreement between the Kingdom of Denmark and the United States of 1951.

Holes are lubed and widened, I guess we are ready to go.

I rather interpret this whole thing as sticks and carrots. More like: Hey, US, it’s been so good having you around in our security construction for all these years, we had such a good time. It would be a pity to let you out right now.

Maybe yes. But for the moment I don’t think anyone would really do something, if the US would decide to annex Greenland.

But jokes aside, I understand of course that the EU tries to stay under Trumps radar, to not provoke anything. But also I am not sure if this is the right tactic.

Nevertheless, we need to gain much more independence aus Europe and the EU from the big players.

That remains to be seen. I think there are multiple factors that can be put into the equation here. Don’t forget that Europe has the biggest share in supporting Ukraine, and that the Baltics are also at the most vulnerable time in recent history (given the US support is now in question). If Trump decides to strike Greenland at the same time as Putin taking action in the Baltics and taking over the Suwalki corridor, then it will be a huge burden on the European defense resources. I really don’t know what their strategy might be, but I think they do not want to antagonize Trump that much until the primaries, when they hope the US Democrats will make a return. I hope they do build some resilience as a plan B in the meanwhile.

It’s anyway a good diplomatic response imo. I do not have hope that Trump really understands the message (as with anything that cannot be put into a cheap reality show), but I am relieved that at least the European leaders are not on the same page as MAGA in regard to creating a world where might makes right.
