EDF posted 5.2 billion profit in 2025, record 11 billion profit in 2024. Where do you see them losing money? Imagine having lower prices and more profit while having clean energy? Nuclear is a part of that formula ESPECIALLY for an industrial country like Germany. Alas, Germany went the other way and it’s people will fail to realize the consequences of this until it is irreparable. Industry will die, people will be poorer and Germany will be worse of. We can see this in 10 years. German auto makers already can’t compete (literally can’t make cars cheaper due to electricity cost that need to be passed down to consumer) with Chinese automakers. This is simple economics no?
Also they need to invest $542 billion by 2040. They have mostly 30 years old reactors which need a lot of maintenance.
And they now have to compete with solar/wind.
All of Germans automotive companies trimmed hair count. They can’t cut electricity cost. These companies are on a downward spiral heading towards extinction and the German public is the cause of it. Instead of these companies focusing on competing with China, the insane electricity costs are forcing them to figure out how to even compete at all.
I love German cars and I would hate for them to disappear, but when the entire government and public is so idiotic what so we expect? It’s over for them. It’s over for German manufacturing. Hopefully you all blame yourselves this time instead of others!

They still are 50 billion euros in debt: https://www.edf.fr/en/2025-annual-results

How much of a car cost is electricity cost vs labor cost? I suspect the latter to me much higher.
Well labor cost can be cut. https://amp.dw.com/en/germany-car-industry-job-cuts-bmw-volkswagen-mercedes-audi-porsche-china-ev-graphics/a-78168695
