Well…I think?
I woke up absolutely sure I was gonna just cancel the endo’s appointment, pretend to be sick and stay at home. Buuuuut, I’m so glad I didn’t!

He addressed my lactation concerns, confirmed high prolactin from my last test and took my blood again. He said that if this one came back high too, I’d have to get an MRI, which I’m really fucking scared of doing 😭

But, but! I asked him about prolonging my injection interval from 3 to 4 days. I was already doing that, I switched as soon as I saw my results, so basically behind his back (oops), but I just wanted to make sure he knew. He was absolutely fine with it, of course.

Also! This was completely unexpected, but he himself offered me the option of monotherapy! Which completely blew my mind, cause endos in this country fucking suck in general and are for some reason hellbent on prescribing 50mg+ of cypro any chance they get. I guess his reputation doesn’t lie…
So of course I accepted, I’ve been looking forward to ditching cypro so fucking much. So byebye, overkill white pills! Oh and I can drink now, I guess?
Although, if my T shoots up, I’m gonna fucking die. But that hopefully shouldn’t happen with 5mg EV every 4 days…

And also, I got an SRS referral letter for the Suporn clinic! Signed and stamped by my endo. Already sent the clinic an email, so hope that turns out okay. It’s…really important to me. And now I’m (hopefully) one step closer!

All in all, great! I’m so glad I didn’t just stay at home, lol. Although I was totally planning it. The lack of motivation and anhedonia from withdrawal is reaaaaaally uncomfortable. But…I think I’m doing okay 💜

Edit: I had one can of beer! And I’m drunk af, lol. Zero alcohol tolerance at all! I don’t drink very often, either.

He said that if this one came back high too, I’d have to get an MRI, which I’m really fucking scared of doing 😭

I’ve had to do this years ago. Your endocrinologist is checking to see if there are tumours growing on your pituitary gland, which are mostly benign but can still cause significant problems if they’re left unchecked. If your endo recommends an MRI, don’t skip it! Even benign pituitary tumours can cause serious hormonal problems if they’re not addressed.

The MRI itself isn’t too bad - it sounds like you’re inside a floppy disk drive as it’s reading and writing a disk (if you don’t know what this is, YouTube! (now I feel really old…)).

MRIs do get quite loud - like standing near a large concert speaker and subwoofer, so earplugs are usually required, due to the very large currents flowing through the MRI coil (magnetic flux) to take pictures of your body part. The very first MRI image they took of my head made me jump a little bit because the magnetic flux was so loud it vibrated me a bit, but once you’re used to the sensation it’s pretty fascinating to experience. MRIs are absolutely not painful, just weird.

Perhaps the scariest part (if you’re not fond of needles) is the dye contrast they can inject for some part of the imaging process to quote “light the pituitary gland up like a christmas tree on the scan”. It’s just a simple IV injection, and not that bad (for what it’s worth, I hate needles).

MRIs can be claustrophobic, so if this is something you think you may have issues with see if your endo is able to prescribe a short acting anti-anxiety medication to help with the experience.

Overall my session took about 50 minutes, was boring as hell as I obviously couldn’t read or do anything other than imitate a statue (moving causes blurry images) but it’s not a terrifying experience. It can be unsettling if you’ve never had one before, but they’re genuinely not scary machines.

Realistically, CTs are scarier because you’re being shot with high energy x-rays to take an image, but they’re also not painful. MRIs just exploit physics to take images with a huge magnetic coil. There are a few YouTube videos on the experience.

Don’t worry about the whole metal and MRI thing - you’ll be extensively screened before you’re allowed anywhere near the MRI, because those things are extremely expensive to repair after an emergency quench (dumping the liquid helium from the machine to ‘turn off’ the magnet). MRI operators are very protective of their machines… 😂

That’s actually really assuring. Thank you ❤️

I know MRIs aren’t painful, I’m just worried I’ll get super claustrophobic. Although, it’ll probably be a cool experience lol.
I think I’m honestly more worried about the marker injection…

I’m really serious about doing it if my endo recommends it. I know it’s important…

      Honestly, thanks 💜
This makes me feel a lot better already. I guess I will be alright then. Thanks for the comment 🩷

Glad Your doc is so friendly - some of them feels the mission and do awesome job. Or maybe sorry for these who don’t follow changes? My endo also do such stuff, even if I have to travel a lot.

hmmm beer, long time didn’t went any czech tavern, like after 1.5 year or so (after being at one weekly for years)… but was at one today! Much nice taste, with cheesy snacks and stuff, did miss that af. Think overall (I may not be ready to say detail) stress of the day did overtake drunkin, so felt nuffin :<

Don’t forget about magical 20! and stay cute.

Did you go to an actual Czech tavern or pub? Cause those places…well, they’re a different world, lol.
My bf loves them. I…don’t. They’re very…idk, male-coded honestly? I don’t like the culture much. But you do you girlie! ❤️

And I’m sorry to hear about the stress. Life is hard for everyone now, it seems. We’ll all get through this tho 🩷

The one of today - “Česká” restaurant by the name, full of pilsner, a little kozel - but somehow more a kozlovna in style.

Used to visit some Svejk weekly with own pack, until they came out as bigots, so no more… My top1 (even have it on my lemmy profile background lol) and top2 taverns are in Prague too, yet I’m not even Czech… oopsie. Also not drinking much since hrt, just happened today coz of friends.

For the stress part, fuck me, it was hrt related after all, doing progress, to say that much. That makes life lovely.

Pilsner is good! Kozel too. I hear anyway, I hate beer…

Don’t go to Švejk tho 😭
If it’s the one I know, the food is mediocre at best with prices like the center of freaking Vienna. It’s actually a scam, it’s insane.

I’m glad you like Prague tho. It’s a nice city and it’s definitely one of the more liberal places in this country. Super glad 🩷

Afaik, there’s hundreds of Svejks all around the world. Unregistered mark, ez to recognise, many older peoples know books or movies well. One in my town was quite friendly at time, up to moment I did discover peoples there, at times when world was not so divided between lefties and righties, while we all could sit at single table and talk star wars…

Pilsner is good? nah, it’s terrible, their super aggressive marketing, buyouting every place possible, getting monopoly on supply and increasing prices af… And even taste, it’s nothing super special, much good, but I never got an orgasm by drinking pilsner urquel ;d

More or less recently started getting into shape as well and I can’t complain. 15 minutes every day and I feel like a new person.

All I’m doing are squats, curls, overhead presses, crunches and bench presses. Alternating between each half of those every day.

wow you can get an SRS referral within a year of starting HRT in your country? The standard here is to wait a few years for pretty much any surgery.

Yes. You can either go the official route, which means 1 year of HRT then being almost literally interrogated by a bunch of supposed “specialists” (really just bureaucrats) and then insurance pays for your SRS completely.

Although I’m personally going for Suporn in Thailand, cause I love the consistently good results. No shade on Czech SRS tho!

I just need a letter from my endo specifically for the Suporn clinic. Turns out, my endo is extremely liberal and supportive, has a male partner and is based as fuck, so he said I could have it anytime.

I am in the US. I haven’t actually asked about surgery yet. I read that surgery is usually held off for like 3 or so years because they don’t want to mess with the early stages of hrt and I assumed that was just the standard. I would love to get vocal feminization surgery sooner though.

Two years is much better than the lottery system to get a spot onto the two year waitlist I remember. And yeah, surgery prep takes a long time anyways so two years sucks but is manageable. And finding a surgeon you trust is so important, especially considering there are some bad surgeons out there (I know nothing about Czech surgeons, and I went to someone relatively nearby to me at the time).
