  • Hey… I’m much younger than you but I’ve gone through something similar… Reaaaally bad ex that never ever followed through and took to blaming me for everything. I never wished harm on her… Never even blamed her for anything until sometime after she broke up with me over my “pushing” (trying to get her to stop being an ass to others and especially myself… In most cases… In my case). I get it. All I can really say… Is that shit sucks girl, and it’ll take some time to feel okay. Be careful not to rebound, but also make sure you have someone you love and trust to be there for you emotionally and get you through it. You can make it through this, I’m sure… You’ve clearly made it through a lot already. <3

  • Hey! You’re very very pretty, I honestly doubt it has to do anything with your appearance girl. But I get it. It was especially bad for me until I started asking what the main things that trigger certain cis friends who are supportive into a gut reaction are.

For me it was how my hair was to start, along with a 5 o clock shadow I’m cursed with but slowly gets better with laser. Those two things were the biggest things… Next to my struggle to come to a new name.

My deadname is one that, while technically now being used for little girls, is not traditionally used for women and most people do not recognize (well… register may be a better term here) it in their head as such. Changing that has helped lots, even though I changed it to something more feminine-leaning neutral as I was identifying NB at the time.

Nowadays, along with HRT slowly but surely doing its work, the big tell I’m told about is my voice.

Personally I think I also struggle with a box-y frame skeletally… But I’m usually assured on that. Tbh I think there’s a chance I just wanna be cute and don’t know if I’ll ever be able to achieve that because of this…

I hope this helps you at all girl <3

  • I would not define people who do this and who you yourself describe as having “too few issues to _” as mentally healthy generally.

Unfortunately, being trans is just that… Being trans. Mean, complacent, or even generally willfully ignorant people are a different thing that can coexist with being trans. Essentially, not all trans people are nice… I unfortunately know a few very unsympathetic transfems I once felt very close to myself…

  • Suuuuuper proud of you girlie!

Personally hair is where most of my dysphoria comes from. The day I can post in trans_joy WITHOUT covering damn near everything will be the day for me. Crop top and skirt, I am soooo desperate for 😭. I wish I could afford more than just my face…

But fr… I’m proud of you, not a lot of others can do that! No matter how much I’ve told some how much of a difference it can make regardless. You’re cool <3

  • Matrix FOR SURE, girlie.

Sometimes the blahaj.zone instance is down, but the other comment is lowkey kiiinda exagerating. Been on it daily the last several months, and there’s only been about a week of downtime.

I think it’s linked on the blahaj.zone community here? Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, I’m a bit unavailable for searching that deep rn. But fr! Join us!

  • For a non-important piece of software, I agree that fixing small bugs is a waste of resources. This is this kernel.

I 100% agree there has to be a human in the loop. That’s non-negotiable to me in ANY use of AI. I’ve personally been stuck reviewing AI code that sucks and have had to send back with a list of reasons… That fucking sucks too. I still appreciate things like finding bugs or users using AI and understanding what they’re doing. It technically isn’t AI that’s the problem in a lot of cases… Its the misuse of a tool without understanding - which you get at. I don’t like that sort of thing, but well… Its better than nothing happening IMO. As I mentioned in my original comment, the main problem is when its too much for maintainers. Then yeah. Outright ban it no matter the use-case. Software NEEDS to be engineered well or everyone is in for a rough time down the line.

  • Pretty much this is why I said that. I don’t agree with AI, but I also don’t agree with many of the people who spout No AI because they heard AI is bad… Like… Please think.

Parroting isn’t helpful. I’ve seen all the parroted shit everywhere. I understand the parroted stuff already. I’m looking for something more new and nuanced, so I’m filtering for that.

As far as Torvalds’ patch and vacation thing goes, I haven’t heard anything. But I doubt that’s the case for the hundreds of fixes that have happened.

  • Am I the only person that thinks fixing kernel bugs discovered with AI is a good thing? Like… AI is out there, we can’t stop it now… People WILL use it, and using it to fix the bugs and even potential security vulnerabilities now, rather than letting a malicious actor do it sounds like something I’d very much like.

Even everyone saying Linus went full AI… Like… What? IMO he’s being practical. It IS a tool, and there ARE a lot of things it should not be used for, but using it to patch things before human verification happens is a pretty sensible thing to do. Its no different than a crappy programmer submitting code for verification. It’d be a problem if there were too many PRs to handle, which has happened with some projects, but the kernel seems to be doing just fine?

The bigger issues with AI IMO are the environmental ones. But that’s really a continuing trend from things like pushing computers around the world using Electron for no reason other than web developers being lazy and wanting to make an app without knowing anything but web dev. A whole-ass web browser is not needed for everything. Though I do admit AI has scaled this problem pretty astronomically…

Its also bad for creative endeavors. For the obvious reasons. I’m a game developer and I work with others who will sometimes try to code with AI and booooyyy do I give them an earful for that (its very noticeable, to those who think they’re clever and can hide it. Just learn to fucking program ffs, its a lot faster than asking someone to program for you and having to constantly correct them because you don’t understand wtf you’re doing).

Would love to hear from someone who has been programming for a long time and isn’t all just “AI bad because AI bad”. Personally I’ve been around since 2014 or so.
