Ah ok. Interestingly, he shot the left part of the branch quite close to the eagle.
Last Thursday, Jason Galvin used a .22-caliber rifle with a scope to fire 150 shots at the distant rope that was tangled around the eagle’s leg.
150 shots to hit and cut the 4 inch (10 cm) of rope (I guess about 1/4 inch (6 mm) at least not more than 1/2 inch (1 cm) thick) between the eagle and the branch located 70 feet (20 m) above ground, so realistically 100 feet (30 m) distance with a rifle that is not his, i.e. without knowing the aiming point.
What? At least in Germany, this is literally the most important thing in tought in driver’s education to always look into the mirrors and over the shoulder to check for traffic (pedestrians cyclists, …) before setting the flashers and turning right (or left).
That’s the English text. In the German original (Wikipedia ), it says wer ist die schönste Frau (who is the most beautiful woman):
But Snow White grew up, and when she was seven years old she was so beautiful that she surpassed even the Queen in beauty, and when she asked her mirror, “Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the most beautiful woman in all the land?” the mirror said, “Madam Queen, you are the most beautiful here, but Snow White is a thousand times more beautiful than you!” When the Queen heard the mirror speak thus, she turned pale with envy, and from that hour she hated Snow White, and when she looked at her, and thought that through his fault she was no longer the fairest in the world, her heart turned round. Then her envy left her no peace, and she called a huntsman, and said to him, “Take the Snow White out into the forest to a far-off place, there she will be killed, and as a token bring me
his[her] lungs and liver, and I will boil them with salt and eat them.”
In addition, the evil queen originally is the mother of Snow White.
What is she thinking about?
Ah, OK. I was more thinking of mountain biking and related stuff. I didn’t know that punctuation of tires still is a thing in (street) cycling.
However, I assume an airless tire for biking should have the same round cross section like an air filled bike tire, while the car tires both have a rectangular cross section. Thus the tires for biking need to be constructed differently. The one I’ve found is from Schwalbe and is basically a usual tire filled with a PU having a similar stiffness than a common tire with an air pressure of 3.5 bar. Currently, they don’t have a system for racing yet.

Probably it’s the missing possibility to tweak the stiffness or rigidity according to ones special demands. An air filled tire offers this possibly to adjust the driving behaviour by elevating or decreasing the pressure. These airless tires don’t, which is good for a car driven on road, but isn’t for bikes where the setup is usually adjusted to the demands of the driver.
Actually, the manufacturers claim the opposite:
About 90% of energy loss from tire rolling resistance comes from repeated changes in the shape of the tries as they roll. By simplifying the structure of the tire, Bridgestone was able to minimize the energy loss in these “air free concept tires.” As a result, these tires have the same level of low rolling resistance as Bridgestone pneumatic fuel efficient Ecopia tires, contributing to reductions in CO2 emissions.

The only benefit regarding wear is that an airless tire obviously cannot be operated with impropper air pressure and thus, the assumed 8 % tires that are replaced due to uneven wear caused by wrong pressure could be saved.
Do you mean tires like this? Why shouldn’t it wear the same way like a common tire with air?
As subways are usually intended for traveling short distances, the passengers have to get in and out fast. Thus, subways usually have doors in shorter distance from each other than e.g. in train trolleys, that are used on lines where the stations are in larger distance from each other than subway stations usually are. The trolleys of double decker trains have stairs close to the doors, thus the trolleys for subways would need to have equivalently more stairs. Subsequently, the space gained for passengers to sit or stand would be much less than e.g. for double decker trains.
When your use case relies on using some most up to date software, then Debian (stable) obviously is not the distro of choice. But that case is not what I meant with ‘simply work’, i.e. using the same (major) version of software for several years.
It’s the same for me.
Out of date is not good for a desktop.
Some call it out of date, others call it stable. If you want your computer to simply work as you are used to and to not bother you with new features and bugs, Debian is a nice distro for Desktop as well.
What’s missing in the above article is that the Marburg virus is transmitted through direct close contact with skin or mucous membranes or through contact with body fluids, not via aerosols like Covid 19. The student only had mild influenza like symptoms and no feaver yet. Thus, the other passengers have been informed, but supposedly are not in danger and don’t need to quarantine.
All the best for the poor guy and his girlfriend.
