On my beanmaxxing arc & I’m looking for some tofu recipes, preferrably quick after-work recipes but any and all are welcome!
Take block of firm tofu. Crumble it in your fists as a form of sloppy stress relief. Fry the crumbled tofu with whatever flavours you like on tacos. Tofu tacos.
Miso soup + silken tofu cubes cooked right in the soup.
Take silken tofu. Add cocoa powder. Blend until smooth. Put in freezer to set. Chocolate mousse. Really silken tofu can be whipped smooth into any number of mousse/“ice cream” type deserts. Also good base for making a nice thick pudding.
Tofu as a ground meat replacement is a great idea, would it hold up in a chili-style dish?
And silken tofu in smoothies sounds like a great idea
I have absolutely used crumbled tofu in a chili-style dish, and can say that it is delicious.
Raw silken tofu blocks, crispy shallots, sesame seed oil, chilli and soy sauce. Unparalleled.
How would I prep it, just mix everything together & fry/bake it?
Looks like this

Do not cook it! Except for the fried onions
ahh gotcha, looks delicious! I’ll give it a shot sometime this weekend
I’m telling you, no other tofu dish even comes close. There’s a lot of variations on this dish. Cong you dofu (onion oil tofu). Go find some recipes because mine is a bit of a bastardisation
Weird question but what’s the texture like?
The tofu is soft, like a pana cotta, but then you have the crunchy toppings. And the flavour is great. You can really taste the tofu too
Are those just pan fried slices? How do you marinate/season them?Edit: didn’t realize you linked the recipe I feel silly

Cube and boil firm tofu in salted water for 5 minutes, toss in corn starch mixed with any seasoning you prefer and fry. I usually use a mix of oyster and soy sauce to drizzle over the tofu and rice.
https://youtu.be/ob2CYmTx9PM or very similar but different texture
