  • Telling people that they’re wrong is generally the absolute worst thing to do, if you want to change their minds. If you’re having a public debate it’s done for the sake of the listeners.

Being blunt lecturing is reserved for people who already want to listen to you. It takes skill built through experience to be able to determine a way to approach someone, without setting off their “fight or flight” mode. Material contributions > Words when it comes to building trust within a community that you care about approaching, always. Otherwise you inevitably come across as a speculator.

Yes you can educate people who are willing to learn and are ignorant of a topic, but often people forget that the person they’re speaking to has already heard all the arguments, if they’ve been in a space for a long time changes are they know everything you do and they still believe what they do, you won’t be able to change their mind. From the point of view of Neuroscience and Psychology you’re only strengthening their already existing stance. There is literally material evidence that supports this. Yes I am a lib and you will have to search it up yourself, because I am too tired and my health is quite poor. Sorry

    • freelancers (like on youtube) are petite bourgeoisie.
    • actors employed for a wage are workers (most actors are in the background literally being employed as a faceless set prop.)
    • actors who own their own firm are bourgeoisie, they often pivot to like Politics as a source of revenue it’s a transferrable skillset.

No youtube/twitch etc. doesn’t employ creatives for a wage, it’s a freelancing platform that lets you compete for a performance bounty.

  • It’s because at the end of the day, underneath all these systems and theories and sciences, there’s a human being - uniquely situated in an impossibly complex environment - trying to make sense of it all.

The internet enables for discussions, between people with no shared stakes, to argue ad nauseum, at unprecedented scale. If you and I lived in a shared village and I had the mastery of a useful craft, you’d be reluctant to exclude me from the community, but now that there’s so much surplus to shuffle around it’s a game of shifting the board, to be the most pleasant for every individual participant.

Everybody has their own set of books they believe in and I have accepted that I don’t have what it takes to figure all this stuff out. I feel like an animal trapped in a cage being forced to perform circus tricks, so that somebody tosses me a little food. They think that by making me perform a certain way I’m going to become a better person, but because they see that I see through the game I’m never going to be let out.

  • A lot of this reads very vibes based, like the eco labels and pivoting to fast fashion to try to save money?

They’ve deskilled you and robbed you of your education and now they’re milking you for profit. For instance, if you’re struggling with cash it’s more pragmatic to learn what nice looking clothes are durable and lasting, learn how to mend them, with a thread and needle. It does not take long and you don’t need fancy machines. You can get yourself a whole wardrobe overtime and be super fancy with your variety of outfits. Warning that this comes with the burden of appearing wealthy.

Nobody is asking you to be perfect, you’d do yourself a huge favor if you rid yourself of Neoliberalism and learn more Class based analysis. Yes they’ve sold you wrapped up exploitation, but you won’t stop it by simply giving up either. If all you gain is more treats to consume eventually that will become the new normal and disappointment sets in.

  • It depends on the reason why they think it’s unrealistic. Can you actually show them evidence of what they can do to make the world a better place? Right here, right now. Not hypothetically, not historically, but materially right here, can you grab them by the hand and guide them to how to make the world a better place?

I think asking: “If the world can be made a better place, then why haven’t I been able to put forward a noticeable effort in doing so?” Is a lot more proactive. You have to start with yourself.

We live in a world where victims are made to put up a show, to entertain, lest they be deemed below the worth of an animal. Or does none of this matter and we’re conditioned, by the system, to waste our life away arguing with each other, instead of building something together? At the end of the day everybody’s a liberal and will choose their flavor of the flock.

  • Okay I have some time so I’m gonna toss some in:

    • Electrolytes
    • Agave Nectar / Coconut Sugar / Honey
    • E621 (By extension E= Bad, in general, always.)
    • Quinoa Superfoods
    • “Cage-Free” (There’s no strict legal definition in what that even means in a lot of places)
    • Fruit Juice is healthy
    • “Locally produced” (When it’s repackaged.)

Oh and recently they seem to have pivoted from electrolytes to Vitamin and “High fiber” drinks as their latest push.

I think the next push might be a Soylent 2.0
