Seems to be a variant on the camper trailer for a bike. Maybe a bit heavy because of the wooden structure?
Yeah I like the custom design with specific goals, and the emphasis on reuse, but it does look heavy. It looks like he spent a good while living out of it though https://theaimlesslywanderingartist.blogspot.com/2013/12/winter-comes-to-southern-california.html
I’m pleased to have found this guy’s work - I have a lot of respect for carpentry done slower, with a focus on making each structure an art project at the same time.
I’d love to know how heavy and how aerodynamic a bike trailer can be and at what speed it can still be moved at certain points.
I was thinking about a bit wider trailer (~1.2m) and rather long (4-5m) but the top is like a hat or deep lid that can move down for transport or taken off. So you have less aerodynamics when moving. And enough width for a nice comfy bed that turns into a recylinging armchair with a topper. And solar.
But I’d want to pull it with a tadpole possibly with a 250W motor and still reach ~15kmh. This is all just fancy ideas so far though.
I’d bet with materials lighter/stronger than woodyou could do a bit bigger, especially with an eye towards the effects of wind. Possibly with a separate motor/brake situation?
